Coming in April (tentative date is April 1st) in my new book: The Art of Sketch Cards (Art Cards Undercover). This is a project I’ve been working on tirelessly – or more rather tiredly, as of late – and in the next paragraph you’ll find the elevator pitch describing the book:
Have you ever wondered what a sketch card is? Have you ever even heard of a sketch card? This book will explain a little bit what a sketch card (or art card) is, ponder where it may have come from, and chat with just some of the people involved with them. Over 40 interviews with collectors, art directors, and some of the artists themselves will discuss why they collect sketch cards, where they find artists to work on sets, and why they create sketch cards in the first place. It also includes an foreward by Steve Sansweet, chairman of Rancho Obi-Wan. This is NOT a how-to book, but a look at the world of 2.5 by 3.5 inches as drawn by a myriad of artists.
The above image is one of two covers Patreon supporters are helping me choose from, but whichever one is chosen, it will be very similar to what you see.
The book will be available as an eBook for now, at the price of $8.99 and is over 100 pages of images from a large variety of artists, over 40 interviews, and is the result of months of work. I’ve been alone doing this except for the outstanding help of several people to alpha and beta read. I hope to release the book in hard copy by the end of the year, but that will depend on whether or not there is a demand. It is a niche topic, after all! 🙂
Stay tuned for more info, and thank you for reading!
